Heating Repair in Manhattan for Leaking Heat Pump

Many homeowners choose heat pumps as a way to produce heat for their home. A heater is a great investment in keeping one’s house all warm and toasty. Keeping it in good condition is therefore important for enjoying the long-term benefits. However, it cannot be denied that despite it being maintained, chances of leaks always remain. Heating and cooling services ensure that the minor issues are rectified on time, but they cannot completely rule out the occurrence of problems now and then. Leaks in the heating unit is one such problem that can concern anyone, anytime.

Can a leak repair wait?

Once the leak appears, the next obvious question that concerns the homeowners is whether the repair can wait or not. Many does not understand the gravity of the situation, and they think that a heat pump leak is not a big deal. The truth is, it is. One needs to get in fixed at the earliest. It is a simple fix and any licensed technician offering heating repair can take care of the same. A leaking heat pump can lead to water damage and mold infestations in one’s home.

Why does the heat pump leak occur?

Leaks don’t happen just out of the blue. There are obvious reasons for the same. Following are the three reasons for a heat pump leak:

Evaporator coils are frozen

During the Summer, low levels in the refrigerant can lead to ice formation on the cooling coils. This hinders the cooling process and affects the functioning of the heat pump. If the level of refrigerant is not what it is needed, then that can lead to ice formation on the evaporator coils. When the ice melts, it creates puddles of water that can leak into the system.

Drain issues

Heat pumps come with a drain pan that collects condensation from the unit. The drain pan can be clogged by anything starting from mold, debris or algae. When the pan is clogged, then it can cause the drain pan to overflow, thereby creating a puddle around the pump. If the drain line condensate pan is clogged, then the water will run over and leak.

Clogged Condensate Drain

The condensate drain system carries moisture and water out of the home through few tubes. If there is any blockage, then the accumulated water will flow out of the drain pan, thereby causing a leak.

Identifying the reasons of heat pump leak is necessary so that they can be rectified earlier. There is no point wasting time and is better to opt for heating repair in Manhattan while still there is time in hand.
